Loki is one of the several powerful beings from the magical realm of Asgard, who have been worshiped as gods. Odin, once the ruler of the Asgardian gods, led his subjects in a war against their enemy, the frost giants from the land of Jotunheim (one of the nine worlds of Asgard). Laufey, king of the frost giants, was slain in battle and the giants were defeated. Surveying the spoils of war, the Asgardians discovered a small Asgardian god-sized baby hidden at the giants' main fortress. The infant was Loki, whom Laufey had kept hidden due to his shame over his son's diminutive size. Odin remembered his father Bor’s dying words to adopt the son of a father killed by his hands; Odin adopted Loki into his own family, raising Loki like a son along with his biological son, Thor.

Growing up, Loki had begun to notice the difference between him and Thor regarding Odin. It was favoritism between the two, and he couldn't fathom why. Being mischievous, Loki tried out many ways to get Odin's attention, causing mischief and doing a bunch of things, however, although treated like a son.. he knew his proper place. The thought formed hatred in his heart and motivated him to continue to put Odin and Thor in tough situations. As the years past, his playful mischief turned into evil schemes and plots, thus causing him to gain titles such as God of Mischief, or God of Evil and Lies. All of these evil doings drove Odin into cursing Loki onto a tree, in which he eventually escapes.

Over the centuries, Loki tries to seize Asgard and destroy Thor on many occasions. Odin, long-tolerant of Loki's attempts, magically imprisons him within a tree. Eventually freeing himself from this prison, Loki's hatred of his adopted family increases. After a moment of time, Loki made his very first big attempt on Midgard, starting with New York. However, his plan fell into ruins, when Thor found out where he was. After his acts, he was taken back to Asgard and served in prison for his wrong doings and the destruction he's caused on the humans planet. The trickster was then released, when Thor found that he needed his help in protecting Asgard. Helping Thor was a plan, but there is always another scheme within one, for he is the God of Mischief.

Abilities

Superhuman Strength: Loki, without the aid of anything, through his own biology, possesses superhuman strength that is substantially superior to that of an average Asgardian male. He possesses sufficient physical strength to lift up to 50 tons. It is possible, however, that he can further increase his strength through mystical enchantment on a temporary basis. Similarly to Thor, it has recently been listed at a higher level than originally, without aid. He once even managed to destroy a large building with a single punch.

Superhumanly Dense Tissue: Like Asgardians, Loki's bodily tissues have roughly 3 times the density of the same tissues in a human being. While he has the looks and physical proportions of a much smaller person, the increased density of his body actually makes him several hundred pounds heavier than he appears. This increased density also contributes to his superhuman strength to a limited degree.

Jotunn(Frost Giant Capabilities): Loki is a member of the race of Frost Giants of Jotunheim, although not a giant in stature. He possesses physical attributes equal to a fit member of his race such as enhanced strength; stamina, speed, durability, (his Frost Giant metabolism grants him superhuman levels of physical stamina in practically all activities); durability enough to harmlessly withstand high-caliber bullets; and immunity to all known diseases and toxins, as well as resistance to magic. Also, can't forget about the blue skin.

Sorcery: Illusions that can fool entire cities, along with powerful entities such as Surtur. He has been able to break free of Celestial technology in the possession of Apocalypse. He is also a shapeshifter: Able to change into animals (examples include transmogrification to a salmon, horse, etc.) or impersonate other people. However, he does not necessarily gain the abilities of whatever he turns into, although minor natural abilities such as flight in bird form tend to work. Loki may mimic the abilities of some supernatural beings if he turn into such creatures. He has also turned clouds into dragons, and animated trees.

Evil Radio: Loki possesses extrasensory abilities and is capable of astral projection and casting his thoughts across great distances—even across dimensional barriers, like that between Asgard and Earth—even if he is unable to move. He cannot read the minds of other beings, although he can influence their actions, and once briefly hypnotized Thor, as well as controlling a flock of birds. However he could not coerce Thor to give him Mjolnir. If someone has evil thoughts, Loki can influence their actions even if he is in Asgard and the subject is on Earth, and he can influence other events to a degree, such as driving a missile from its path, or redirecting a radio signal.

Other Important Stuff: Loki possesses a brilliant intellect, with some knowledge of technology, as when he created a machine to amplify Iceman's powers, and attaching devices to the Twilight sword to tap into its powers. He is an expert manipulator and schemer, frequently using pawns in his plans. He is sometimes armed with a sword, a whip, or a three-pronged spear and has used magical items (such as the Norn Stones) to enhance his powers. He crafted a method of cheating death. He will be reincarnated upon any "death" of his body now that he has arranged with the incarnations of death that his name be erased from the books of Hel.
